Battlestar Galactica: My next obsession.

So been trying to find shows to fill the gap for Doctor Who and I came across a show I been in dismay of watching. Battlestar Galactica, man why was I not watching this way back. I am on the third season and it definitely a gripping and thought provoking show. I have seen the original when I was young and that is reason why I been in dismay about watching this because I usually not fond of the whole remake/reboot Hollywood thing that been going on. I did like that Apollo (portrayed by Richard Hatch) from the original series lend his talents on the new series, it was a nice touch. Also the cylon centurions look very frighten and more menacing without the voice from the original. I do say the CGI change was a good thing.  I will talk more about how I feel with the series when I am done. I will point out I don't really like the religious tones in the show, it not anything bad though and it doesn't stop me from watching it.

Some characters that I like are Lee "Apollo" Adama. He is definitely sexy and he does play his role well. His character at first seemed really on the douche side but afterwards he start to come around. Also I really like Commander/(later on) Admiral Adama, played by Edward James Olmos. All I have to say is he is phenomenal in this role.Starbucks was a character I thought I wouldn't do to the tough exterior but you find out she pretty fragile and a total badass. Smoke a cigar with her any day. I get more into chracter when I am done. I will note others, as such President Roslin (Madam President, love saying that), Dr.Baltar, and Number Six. So I will probably finish the series towards early 2012.

Also like to say December 25th the Doctor Who Christmas special will be on, hope to see fellow whovians watching. Also the mmo Doctor Who game is now up http://www.doctorwhowit.com/. So a have fraking awesome day ^.^ I will be finishing up my New Warriors post soon.

Happy Birthday RuPaul!!!!

51 years old and still a fierce diva. This will be a short blog post for today. I just wanted to say my regards to one of the most influential people in the LGBT community.  Divine paved the way for drag being mainstream but Ru gave more meaning to the art of drag as well as Divine. Ru inspired in a little way to embrace that diva side and show I can be fearless and go out and be who I want to be. So happy birthday you fierce bitch!! I live you with this.

Doctor Who: The Six Season/Series Opinions

Doctor Who sixth season ended awhile back but now I thought I would take out the chance and gave my opinion on how I felt this season ended and some of my favorite episodes. First off the season finale was really done well and left you wanting more. I will not spoil what happens but it made me have a lot of WTF moments. It seems like the next season will deal with more of the Doctor past before we all knew him as the Doctor and hopefully answer a lot of questions. Now for my favorite episodes. I have to say the opening episodes were really good. Especially "The Doctor's Wife", not only was it written by Neil Gaiman (which he wrote DC Vertigo's series "The Sandman") it made the Tardis have a speaking presence and physical body and I thought it was nice to finally to see why The Doctor and Tardis are so close. "The Almost People" was one of favorites of two parters episodes because of The Doctor having a flesh copy of himself and when he was going through previous incarnations of Doctor quotes (and yes he quoted Tom Baker's jelly babies it made me squeal). Not only the episode had a sort of sad ending it to it which led into the next episode. "Let's Kill Hitler" was a great mid-season open episode, trying my best to not spoil anything on that but I really want a sonic cane after seeing that episode.  "Night Terrors" was a freaky episode, especially the dolls that would do creepy voices and touch you and turn you into one of them. The dolls reminded me of the creepy porcelain dolls that my aunt collected. I hate those things and after seeing that episode I definitely hate them. But the episode was really good.

"Closing Time" is my favorite of the six season/series. Why? It was well written and the humor was top notch, but it brought back a old foe. The Cybermats are brought back after decades of not being seen in Doctor Who episode in awhile. I really like the chemistry between The Doctor and Craig, they connect well and the humor they produce is brilliant. I definitely found this one of my favorite side character episodes. Then it all leads up to "The Wedding of River Song", now I want say much on this. Not because I don't like it, I just don't want to spoil the season finale. All I can say is that definitely messed with the viewer (well me personally) and had a lot of surprises. I been suffering through no new episodes of Doctor Who....totally depressing. Although the Christmas special will be coming on in the next month ^.^ So see you then and remember to discuss your opinions in the comments.

20 Films I Love pt.1

I really want to make a list of film I could never get tired. I do count a Trilogy a one film because they all connect in one big movie. I hope when I post this people will at least a couple of these films or comment on there love or dislike for the film. I will try to remain spoiler free.

20. Aliens- As much as I like the first film this one was the one I always came back to watch. Why? Because it had some of best scenes in science fiction cinema. Sigourney Weaver was at her prime in this film and it showed really well, she made a stand for all those girls of women always being in distress. I think this movie got better with age, also Bill Paxton was another favorite in the film especially in the film when they are surrounded be the aliens. Also when I was kid the radar noise freaked me out because you knew someone was going to bite the dust. Only bad I had was Newt but in after seeing the film again she added to humanity of Ripley. Last but not least the Queen is still of one favorite special effects creature in cinema. This want be the last James Cameron film on the list, and no not Avatar.....(Note that I am looking forward to Aliens: Colonial Marines, game looks pretty radical)

19.Pee Wee's Big Adventure- What can I say? It one of those movies that always manages to make me laugh and also has one of the creepiest scene I had ever seen with clowns. This movie makes me ffel like kid again when I watch it. I never really grew up with Pee Wee to be honest, I caught he tv show saw later in syndication on some channel after school .  But I hear to talk about the film, it has some of the most iconic scenes in my knowledge of history of cinema. I always loved the bar dance sequence, still to this day I would love to do that. It was one of Tim Burton film I loved before goth kids like all of his other films. Another one of his films pops up in my list, but it is mostly one people don't talk about. Pee Wee's Big Adventure will remain that comedy I watch every once in awhile and let the good time's roll.
Tried to find a good one, but it manages.

18.Superman 2- Before I go ahead with this one I have to say I confused on the different cuts on the film so I will be doing the main film itself.  First and for most I love Terrence Stamp as General Zod, I think he define the role of what a villain is. Still one of my favorite performance of his beside him in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (another film you should watch). So let get to the other parts, I think Christopher Reeve molded what I thought of Superman. The hero who push his limit to protect his adopted planet and who made me believe I could someday fly (childhood ^.^). The film did have it flaws non the less, with the kiss that makes PEOPLE FORGET YOU ARE SUPERMAN!!! I honestly thought that idea should of been scrapped. Other than that I leave with this.
                                                                         Gets me chills.

So I think I will leave other part for later. I still sorting out and debating with myself.....so keep reading and hopefully part two will be up this week.

Battlefield 3

I was a late bloomer in Battlefield, I started with Battlefield 2142 (still consider my favorite). I stop playing for awhile and when obtain a Xbox 360 I had got into Call Of Duty. After playing the many incarnations of the series it was time to play something new. I play BF: Bad Company a year ago, I was very late with it. I quickly grew back to BF franchise and got addicted BC 2 (late on that one as well). So knowing Battlefield 3 was coming out, I had to pre-order it. I played the beta and was rather dismissive about buying but know it was not the final product of the game I still had hopes.

BF 3 delievers a lot more than the beta did. Campaign wise, the game was really good and I thought it was a lot more believable than the BC games. It felt like you were thrust into a actual combat scenario and some parts were a little boring and bland but the game was never for single player really. Multiplayer is where the game shines (now I have not played the PC counterpart, so this is strictly console-wise). I found it really addictive to get attachments for weapons and leveling up to get more weapons. Vehicles add to depth to game as well, but let me say the jets take some time to get use. It really fun to see yourself soar through the air, or crash in trying to learn the controls. The maps are actually bigger than I thought, some are small but it make it a lot better for pace. I had a couple of problems with the game but it seem like DICE is working around the clock to keep things working to standards of gamers and that I appreciate. The beta problems I had seem to be none existent in the actual product.

Now I want to clarify that I really enjoy both BF and CoD series. But at the end of the day I am going with Battlefield. It is more of my type of shooter, CoD is more of a fast paced quick reaction game and can go lone wolf. Battlefield 3 punishes you for not being a team player, I like to talk about where a sniper is and spotting them for a partner to snipe out. It is more of slow pace game just to clarify and it takes some time getting use to. I played CoD for so long that it really started to rub off and stop getting suckered in buying another one every year. That how I feel about Sports games as well....seriously who buy Madden every year? Just buy one and stick with it. Getting off track now, but all in all Battlefield 3 is the best shooter I played this year so far. I have not delve into Modern Warfare 3 and probably will way later on.

So see you folks on the battlefield ^.^
Will ever see another one? I hope so.

Mass Effect 3 Mulitplayer???

So first it started as rumor and now it seems it is true..... I am highly disappointed and was hoping it is a rumor. Mass Effect games were some of the greatest stroy driven games I have ever played. I am truly excited for the third entry but not excited for the recently true rumor that multiplayer mode was added. It is not deal breaker but still seems like it is unnecessary. It is like adding sugar on top of cake that is already loaded with it, just don't do it unless you want to have some serious problem down the road.

Happy Coming Out Day and my story

Today is October 11th and its coming out day. Celebration for the GLBT community and people who are still in the closet who need courage. Two years ago I came out on December 18th. It was a day I knew thing would change and I would not look back. Standing here today I can say I feel so much happier with myself and thanks the people who stood there for me in a hour of need.

So when did I realize that I was gay? I realize around middle school during I say around 12. I never felt attraction to the opposite sex, and I use to hang around girls and I felt more comfortable talking to them instead of dating them. I felt attraction towards boys and I was always that kid who never felt like I belonged in a group of friends. Sometimes I would hint that I was gay but not enough to alienate my friends. Then in high school I tried to date a girl I knew for years before since elementary school. We ended up dating for a year or so but I felt like something was missing. When we broke up then reality started to sink in, I was scared to out myself in high school and get ridiculed more. I felt more secure during my junior and senior year in high school because I participated with theatre classes and shows. When we did the musical in spring though I felt more defensive because I did not want to sing nor dance because it would make me seems more obvious. But I look back now and wondering what the hell was I thinking. One day after one of plays were done, we had a cast party and I overheard a cast member coming out to a couple of friends and he was one of my friends I felt I wanted to say the same but it was his moment.

After graduating and having more time to think and realizing I was getting unhappy and ill tempered way to quick. It was all because I was trying to bury my sexuality and got stressed out more. Then I snapped and realize it was time to stop and come forth with a secret that was killing me. December 18th I told my sister first and foremost, she was happy for me and then came the rest of my family. It was better than depicted but still had some hostility. Next was to tell some close friend, some were shocked others were just telling me just be yourself. Then stupidest and ballsiest thing I did was announce it over my facebook...... Yeah I realized what I did but I was in that state of mind where I did not care what happened. Some friend took my side and other remain nameless to me now. I still feel as though not a lot are cool with it. Some family relationships did get destroy but you know are there for you and how are not.

One thing I want to address and it rather personal, don't make people feel abandoned. I see kids and teens kill themselves over kids bullying for being different or just trying to fit in. It does not matter if they are gay nor straight no kid should ever feel torment and punishment from others who think it is funny and with repercussion for the actions they transpired. I had my moments where I just hated myself and felt like suicide was the only option but let me tell you "things did get better". I been through the path of being laughed at for being fat and teased because I kept to myself. But no kid or teen should go through that in school. It sickens me to hear teacher nor faculty do nothing about it when a kid is contemplating suicide and rejection. When I see people down I try to help out. It just my nature to do that, so when you she some adolescent down on there luck talking to them could make a big impact on there future. But I hope more people have courage to stand up and overcome obstacles of school bullying. If teens or kids reading don't make anyone feel rejected.

After getting that out of the way I will be doing more updates on my blog. I know it take me awhile but I get writer's block a lot ^.^ So here to coming out and feeling proud and celebrating today.

Saturday August 27th, Doctor Who time

So recently I been catching more with the old generations of Doctors. I finished the sixth doctor portrayed by Colin Baker and felt left unsatisfied with the ending of his run.  But I will get more into that, as you know by now the next part of the six season/series is beginning August 27th for us americans. The ending to mid season finale was absolutely mind blowing to me. I will not spoil anyone who is still catching up (I am sure they will have a marathon leading up to the next part). So the new season begins with a episode "Let's Kill Hitler" which by the name of the title deals with something about Adolf Hitler. I hope there is a cybermen episode, cybermen have become one of my favorite adversaries for The Doctor. Another glance at the trailers, it seems the silence will return after all. It seems this season will definintely have a shocking conclusion. So I will be ready with my jelly babies and my cup of steaming hot tea for the next part of this awesome season.

Oh my.....

So aside from that back to the classic series. I just finished Colin Baker's run and I have to say I loved his doctor the most beside Tom Baker's (no relation what so ever) of the classic series. Colin's was more of brash and egotistical Doctor. I know that does not sound good but he is actually has a charming wit to him to. A lot of fans would say that Peri (the sixth doctor companion) was annoying and quite dim witted and only add to the show for sex appeal. I do agree with the sex appeal part but I don't agree with other two. She was just like any other female companion but more of typical damsel in distress scenario. Although I hated when she was killed off in and became a host for another alien and was killed. But she wanted to leave the series, which was a good move I just wish they written it off in a better way. Yes I know that it really did not happen it was the Valeyard tampering with the matrix (not that matrix...) and you find out Peri is alive and on the planet married to Yrcanos. Which I did find rather tacked on to keep some fans happy. By the Yrcanos was hilarious and over the top and made that episode. Also the new companion to in Mel.....She was annoying as hell!!! I mean I know back when she was first cast she got a lot of bad wrap, but she was not great just annoying.

Colin had one of my favortie Cybermen episodes. I am a huge fan of Cybermen!!! So if you do watch a least one episode I do recommend "Attack of the Cybermen". There was a good Dalek episode to, "Revelation of the Daleks" which had major teeth grinding parts but also manage to have some real charm to it. Also I like to point and I know it is about time. Colin's Doctor outfit.......All I have to say it definitely was a eye opener and like Colin him self said "A explosion in a rainbow factory", I love the costume. It definitely fit the era (1980's) Colin's Doctor was filmed in. It was a bold move to go gallivanting around the universe in a multicolored, plaid coat.  Also would a good time to discuss the the dark times that fans were going through. The 18 month hiatus that would lead to Doctor Who going downhill from there leading to the cancellation in 1989. If I was living back then I would be mad as hell. I know Colin did audio drama of his Doctor, which I have not listen but I will peak interest someday. Hopefully in 2013 the 50th anniversary ever living Doctor will come back in a huge story. I would love to see Colin finally getting back into the multicolored suit. Colin's Doctor will always have a place in my heart. He was just in a bad time for Who, script were poorly written, production was getting lower and lower. Just not the perfect time.

Also last part and I will end this post. I really hated the last line Colin ever gave on his series. It showed the BBC really hated his protrayal. It was "Carrot juice"!!!! Really of all the things he could of said it was a juice!!! I mean usually the Doctor gives some type of sad goodbye or better yet a some respect getting played off. Don't get me started on the cheap ass regeneration....Anyways I hope more fans open up to Colin Baker's era.

CARROT JUICE!!

Hobo With A Shotgun (Is Awesome)

I been waiting to see this film for awhile. I finally got to watch it with a couple of Xbox LIVE friends on Netflix. I have to say it worth the wait. I definitely getting the film on blu-ray. With a title of movie like this you know it not going to be serious but man it was a crazy film. Think of the film as a homage to the low budget gory action/thriller, grindhouse, and 80's John Carpenter soundtrack all in one. As some people know I love the "Grindhouse" movie that came out. "Death Proof" and "Planet Terror" are really some films that I hope develop a cult classic status, they both were fantastic  in sense they were two different films that I can not compare.

So anyway on to the film. Rutger Hauer was a perfect choice and I thought he would turn something like this down to be honest. If you don't know him he played in the scifi masterpiece know as "Blade Runner" (also liked him in "The Hitcher" not the remake). Anyways like the title implies, he is a hobo with a shotgun. But it more to it, he really wanted a lawn mower but as seeing the town he was drifting through was corrupt and ugly, like every other Bronson type he decides to deliver his own justice. The movie has some of the most over the top gory scene that made me laugh pretty hard. I try to find the scene that made me laugh the most, it was scene when the Santa Claus pervert finally got shot and what the hobo said to him.  I will not try to give anymore away. Also the the soundtrack was superb and the ending theme was just perfect. So I will live you with the theme and hopefully more people will see this film.

Green Lantern movie and a little rant about theaters.

Last night I got a chance to see the new Green Lantern movie. I have always been huge on DC comics, and GL was one of my favorites comics. I like the Kyle Rayner's take on the GL in the comics. Anyways I was very skeptical on seeing this movie. After seeing the first trailer I was completely underwhelmed, it was the CGI for me. I love the look of the costume because I knew spandex was going to be way out of the answer for the movie. Anyways, I saw the movie and here to give a brief review on what I like and disliked about the movie. I am not going to give anything away, but if you know your GL some of the this stuff should be a no brainer.

Spot on.
First off I really like the execution of the comics to film. Plenty comic movies do it good and bad. This one did it pretty damn well. They really did pay a lot of attention to characters. Especially to GL Corps members. Kilowog (voiced by Micheal Clarke Duncan), almost reminiscent to his comic counterpart and it was like he jumped off the pages (also a treat when he said poozer ^.^). Same with Sinestro (played by Mark Strong), he was the best part of casting in this film. Just dead on accurate. But without giving too much away I felt like the way his home world situation was never really talked about (guess they will save it for the sequel). Tomar Re was the one I was most concerned with after seeing screen shots of him. But I have to admit he was fantastic on the big screen. The Guardians looked awesome and they made them better looking than I thought. Carol Ferris is not going to become Star Sapphire but it was nice to see that nodded at the name in the jet fighter sequence. I felt her acting was flat and not all that well portrayed in the film. Hector Hammond felt a little bland for my taste, I mean there not many serious villians on earth for GL. I thought it was a great choice either way. Parallax kind of had me grinding my teeth, not because he was not accurate. It was the way he reminded me of the way Galactus looked in the second Fantastic Four movie. But he still was terrifying (Parallax). The movie was well executed.

Maybe...
Now for a one last nick pick. The casting for Hal Jordan, which was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds (hawt!!!). He was some-what good on some characteristics and others I thought he was not taking the characters serious enough. But that is just the fan boy in me. I rather have him play someone like Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner. But other than that I was happy to see one of DC's biggest hero make it to the big screen. Now we need a Firestorm movie.....but  probably will never happen.

Now to something that I been wanting to talk about this for awhile. Perfect chance now after dealing with this in GL.  I know plenty of people out there run into this at the theaters too. It is people who will not shut the hell up, you spend a lot of money to see a movie and of course someone will try and ruin the experience for you. The reason why I wait for things to come to DVD or Blu-ray. What drives people to start talking loud as crap and thinks the movie is going to talk back. I understand when you are at a house with friends watching a movie and discuss the scenes and laughable mishaps, but when in a theater watching movies with people who paid as much and more for drinks and food (suckers, what a purse was invented for or the fancy term satchel ^.^) you should at least shut up. Its cool if you are like the only person with a friend  in the theater but that is a rarity I only experienced once. I had my moment where I snapped a person, especially some women smacking gum like a cow eating grass. Worst of all the people who strike up random conversation with you, they talk about seeing the movie already and spoiling funny lines or critical moments. Another, is people who try to imitate funny lines or one liners. It is just why do some people who enjoy the movie experience get it ruined by people who have nothing else to do. In this day and age money on movie tickets are becoming more and more pricier. Telling a security officer does not crap around our theaters. They come in and the people that were being loud finally shut up, but as soon as they leave "Guess what?". THEY GO RIGHT BACK TO TALKING!!! I could ramble on about this but I am sure you have experienced the same. So I am going to leave you with this video (still trying to figure out how to place video in proper places). That should keep you laughing and thinking about this about people in theaters that won't shut up.

Metal Gear Solid series

Since the announcement of the HD Collection coming to PS3 and Xbox 360. I was definitely excited to hear Peace Walker getting a console port. I have always been a fan of Metal Gear Solid since it came out in 1998. Yes I will say that Hideo Kojima (creator of the MG and MGS franchise) is a genius. I never played the original Metal Gear series beside the NES port, which was okay for the most part. With MG: Rising dawning to a release date I could not be more excited for MG franchise.

When I played MGS way back on the Playstation, it was one of the first game I got emotionally attached to. The soundtrack was phenomenal. Especially  this song when the game ended. It is a beautiful masterpiece of a game and worth any gamers attention. I felt that the characters as ridiculous as some were, were actually believable. When I started to get older the more I appreciated this game. Solid Snake is one of the best characters ever concieved. The game takes place in Alaska on a base called Shadow Moses. I really like that it was one of the first games I played where you had to actually be sneaking instead of gun blazing. The boss battles were epic. One of my favorite boss battles in this game was against Frank Jaeger aka Gray Fox which was turn into a Cyborg Ninja. This boss battle was truly unique in a way of not using weapons. The more the battle went on, the more crazy Ninja got. When you finally find out who he is, it is quite shocking. Well it took me a lot of time to understand who he was when learning more about the series. It was the boss battle that stuck out to me in the game. Another boss battle was Psycho Mantis because it was the first game to mess with me. Especially when he reads your memory card and had to make you switch player controller ports due to him knowing your every move. It was definitely a unique play through. Just goes to show you Hideo knows how to make a damn good game. Metal Gear Rex was a battle that had me literally stunned. It was one of my first battle against a colossus. I also like the fact it was one of the first game to do two endings (well the first one I ever played).I want spoil anything but when you get to the torture chamber sequence the choice could alter the ending. It is truly one of the best game ever made and still holds up pretty well to today's games. The remake "MGS: The Twin Snakes" for the Gamecube was really a flawed remake to the modern audience. I played through it and did not feel what I felt with the original due to the dramatic change to music and voice actors. I did not go for the "Matrix" slow motion cliche cutscenes either. It was a nice way to get new fans but I just did not like it.

When the PS2 dawned and countless people waiting for a sequel to MGS, including me. When it was announced and a demo came with Zone Of Enders (which is another awesome game) a lot of people bought the game just for it. I never did get it because I wanted the full game. When it finally came out I was ready to dive into the next chapter. The game was awesome and at the same time it really confused the hell out of me. New additions were added to game play, which added a first person aiming mode. Which was a awesome touch and help to see where enemies were. As all the people who first played the game, I was surprised to see that you would be playing a new character named Raiden. I do agree with people that he was completely underwhelming to play as and he was a wuss. The bosses in this game were definitely a pack that I liked. I like Vamp up until to point he got annoying because he kept coming back.... Solidus final battle was really fun to play through and showed that fighting without guns was still fun as playing with them. But all in all the second chapter to the series was still awesome. After I finished the second I was wonder where the series would go next.

Found this while looking for a pic of Volgin
The next entry really made me surprised because it was a prequel instead of a sequel to MGS 2. MGS 3: Snake Eater was set in the Cold War era and you played Big Boss. Solid and Liquid's father which was discovered in MGS. This game tried a different style of sleath and that is survival. Killing and eating animals to keep your stamina up. I found the game very challenging than the other entries. I did like discovering the past of Ocelot and finding who Solid's father was. The boss battles were crazier than ever. Note to people playing through try not to kill too many enemies. When you get to The Sorrow you will have a long walk through that river.....I should know. I did like the main adversary, Volgin. He was a actual bad ass and kick the living shit out of Big Boss. He kept saying Kuwabara sometimes. When he said, that I think of my favorite character from Yu Yu Hakusho (popular anime). The game had it all, action, suspense, romance, and a lot of other stuff that made this a great time to pick up on the series.

We all knew the MGS was not over and it was still left with what is the future of Solid Snake. The answer would be the PS3. I was pissed to know that I would probably have to wait to dive into the next game due to the insane price of a new PS3 back in 2006. When the first big trailer was shown of MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots you knew people would be blown away. A big surprise to learn was that Solid Snake has aged quite a lot and I was wondering what the hell was going on. After playing through the game, I have to say it definitely was on par as one of the best damn games I have ever played. I know people grip about long cutscene's but it is what makes the experience much more playable. Like a big action movie sort of speak. I still not giving much away on Snake's final chapter. But I will say you will be visiting Shadow Moses again. It was one of the moments I was left just mesmerized and almost about to cry. Because I remember when I first played MGS and it played that song I posted (which made it a sadder journey). Hideo Kojima was a pure genius to make people feel emotions when the go through Shadow Moses for one last time. The boss in this game were just on the borderline of pure insanity. Another thing I want to show off is one of my favortie parts of the game. This takes place on Shadow Moses after obtaining Metal Gear Rex (the MG in the first game) and facing off againist MG Ray (from MGS 2). The battle is pretty epic.  Some other thing that I was glad that they improved on was Raiden character. He was no longer the wimpy sidekick type character, he was full blown war machine. Altering his body into a cyborg (sort of like Ninja in MGS). The last thing I wanted to say is that it definitely answers a lot of burning questions and also raises some other ones. But it was a awesome and sad closing for the mullet bond hero. After finally finishing up the MGS saga. I have to say I am proud to be a gamer. These games pushed a limit of interaction and action (for me) to whole new level. With great characters and memorable lines, cliche plot points, and boss battles that are always a great time to play through. If anyone asked me what would be my most cherish memory in gaming. It would be the entire MGS saga. These game will stand the test of time, and hopefully bring more people into playing. I want to do a more detailed input on MGS 4, but I would just say play through the entire series then come back to me.

With the future of MG games looking bright I can help to see what is next. MG: Rising is looking really great and I want to see how Raiden has become more of bad ass instead of the character he was in MGS 2. I really am looking forward to HD collection and hopefully it will bring more fans into the series. I give my thanks for Hideo Kojima for making such a great series like other countless fans we thank you for making games that stick with us for a long time. Thanks for reading. I know I did not cross a lot of ground with the post but I wanted to give a taste of what made this series special to me. I did not talk about the spin off games of the main saga because I wanted to talk about the main series. I hope many play the series after reading this. Again thanks for reading.

Zero Hour

Example of the fading issues.
Another post today, I feel like sharing more about comics. I always been a avid comic book reader. One series in particular I wanted to talk about is the DC miniseries event "Zero Hour". It is sort of a forgotten comic miniseries. Based off the "Crisis" stories (Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, and the lackluster Final Crisis), thus hints at the name "Zero Hour: Crisis in Time". The reason why this series sticks to me is the way that mess around with the time line in the crossover issues. Especially one of the Superman issues where he runs into Batman shifting into countless other incarnations (shifting to Frank Miller's Dark Knight to Adam West's portrayal). The main plot to the series is time is being destroyed from the end to the beginning. The heroes of the DC Universe are trying to figure it out while having the DCU go out of whack.

It is a clever series and I still have not finished collecting the crossover issues. Most notably from the series is how the main issues countdown from four to zero. Having each issue cover fading more and more until the final issue is a blank cover. Then after the crossover was done issues of comics would be marked #0 retelling the origins of new heroes and old ones. It was definitely a nice way of reintroducing characters. One of the famous series to be spawned out of this was the "Starman" comic introducing Jack Knight bearing the Cosmic Rod. I have a bunch of the #0 issues. One particular issue was Lobo's. I found him very interesting and funny and I have become a fan of him ever since. I think I will do a spotlight on him soon.

Back to the main series itself. I found it dull in some points but overall caught my attention. If you are reading or planning on reading Zero Hour I do warn you to stop reading for the spoiler. When I say spoilers now I hear River Song's voice from Doctor Who. You find out the main villain was not Extant (aka Hank Hall/Hawk/Monarch) but Hal Jordan. Which was the most famous earth Green Lantern know to comic fans. Now know as Parallax now after the Emerald Twilight incident when Hal destroy the GL Corps and central power battery on Oa. It was later explained that Hal was taken over by the fear entity "Parallax" in GL: Rebirth. Anyways I would of been shocked if had not spoiling the plot for myself. Hal is trying to erase and recreate a universe in his own image. I thought it was a nice surprise for people reading back in 1994. I did like the reference in Booster Gold by making a issue #0 and the cover recreating the first issue cover of Zero Hour.

All though there was a lot of people that necessarily disliked this event (mostly due to making the new Hawkman confusing as hell). I was loving what DC was doing by making time go crazy and have alternate realities clash. Just simple premise of mixing it up and making things fresh and exciting made it a crossover worth collecting. I am still not done but I can not wait to finally finish it. I hope more people become a fan of this crossover. Overall the miniseries is worth a read through for any DC Comics fan.

Opinion on the DC reboot.

I heard about the news awhile back and I said some of my opinions on the pictures. This would be my first major blog post about comics. I never really knew where to start on a topic about comics until now. In September, DC Comics is making a fresh start with there comics. I think it is a double edge sword. It could work and bring in new fans and alienate old fans or it can win over the old fans and also bring in newer ones. My take on this is mixed but I am excited to see what comes out of this. It is a risky move that DC is taking but I am all for it. I do see the point of long term fans that grew up with DC long before I was born. Don't you think when "Crisis on Infinite Earths" happened a lot of fans were pissed off. Killing heroes and villains and starting somewhere new. I know "Infinite Crisis" did the same thing again and a lot of people afterwards was happy. DC is know for changing things and gambling with there fan base. So that is why I am not on the offence to this change.

The new JLI, loving Booster Gold.
I do see the point of many of the hardcore fan base and I know if I every got into a heated debate I could not try to disagree. I have got immensely confused with a lot of continuity problem that arose because I came into DC in my later years. After learning more of the DC  the other heroes beside the big three (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman). Now that this reboot is coming along I am really excited. The JLI (Justice League International) is coming back, Hawk and Dove!!!,  Animal Man, Red Lanterns, Fire Storm, and a lot more I can not name right now. Just a couple of things that have made me get a little mad is that Hawk and Dove are finally coming back but why the (pardon for the language) fuck is Rob Liefield doing the art. Liefield is infamous for his character doing impossible anatomical moves and just really dislike his style and I believe it one of things that going to ruin it for me. The story can be top notch but the art also has to make me want to read too. Another thing is I do not like the new Firestorm look, sort of like Hawk and Dove issues but I really can not wait to see what new adventure lie ahead for one of my favorite DC heroes. The JLI teams is awesome but could deal with having the Blue Beetle and Mister Miracle (another favorite) on the team.

I am looking forward to this gamble DC is doing but at the same time I dreading it. It could cause a lot of backlash but I think fans should try and read a couple of issue of these new rebooted issues. I do think that DC knows if this fails that they create a story saying this could a alternate universe. But all will tell in September. I am looking forward to it.

A big delay...once again.

It is not that I don't care to keep up with a blog. It is just a lot has happened in only in matter of months. First off last month a tornado ripped through North Carolina and damaged our house including my room so I had to temporary stay with my mother (had no internet where she was).  Out of this absence I have been catching up on my PS2 games and of course I could not miss my new season of Doctor Who. I am really enjoying this season and it is a bummer I have to wait another week for the next episode due to memorial day (ugh). But to the more serious matter, it really hit me hard these tornado have been ravaging across countless states taking away lifes and homes. I was forunate but I will never be the same. I do show all my compassion towards those who have suffered a far greater deal. It was a truly terrifying experience I never want to experience again.

I will be posting again now and I wanted to explain why I have been on such absent hiatus. I am more committed to this blog. I am back and ready to get things back up. Once piece at a time.

So ready for April 23rd

I been posting stuff about being excited for April 23, and people are wondering why. Simple solution to that question and that is the season of Doctor Who begins!!!! I been caught up and now it time to see what is going to happen in the all new season. Like I said before I been addicted to this show for a good amount of time and been watching classic episodes from the older doctors. I especially love Tom Baker's version of the doctor. Speaking of the fourth doctor I found a place that sells jelly babies. For those who do not know, jelly babies are a type of candy that comes from the UK (I don't think I have to explain what that stands for). Look them up and if your fan of Doctor Who, you probably know of them and have tasted them.
Care for a jelly baby?

Creepy much?
My reaction to tasting them was a strange one, I dislike them but at the same time they tasted great.  Now next on the list is fish fingers and custard......yeah does not sound to appetizing. I did let my family try some jelly babies and they simply hated them. One reaction was they taste like baby food and the other was they feel like eating saw dust. Lets get back to Doctor Who though. It is awesome seeing advertisements on youtube and Xbox LIVE for the new season. Oh by the way if you own a Xbox 360 go look up on the Doctor Who theme and gamer pictures. I been rocking the TARDIS gamer pic. But I so happy that Doctor Who is really opening up to more american audience but at the same time keeping the witty british humor and spirit. Maybe more people will start to find a love for the series as much as I have. So april 23rd will you be watching?

Update time.

Procrastination strikes again and I manage to neglect people who are wondering what is up with me not updating my blog. I been going through a lot of drama and I will spare you the details. Anyways I going to be doing a blog post on fighting games and mostly about Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The probably do a blog on my favorite gaming icon "Megaman". So be sure to stick around and wait for my next update.

My love for Dragon Quest.

Today I was thinking of revisiting a game and the one game that came up was "Dragon Quest 8". Now I never beat it do to the whole save deletion mishap (rather not talk about it) and waste a good 60 hours on the game. Now I going back to it because it is a series I love to play. Old school style RPG (Role Playing Game for those who do not understand what it stands for, but if you are a gamer reading my blog then something is wrong with you) have never really caught my eye, I do like Final Fantasy but I can't really play it for long without getting bored. Ever since I played "Dragon Warrior:Monsters" for the gameboy color I knew this is a series I was going to grow playing. Then I played the actual DQ series, starting with the 3rd one. It was the port to the GBC (gameboy color), I never beat it though.

       Awesome box art huh?

The reason I wrote this blog is to share my love for a great RPG series. I always love the monsters in the game and the very beautiful artwork done my Akira Toriyama (creator of the Dragon Ball series, Dr.Slump, and a lot of other animes and mangas). The core mechanics are simple, you go to town to town completing quest and grinding to level up. Not many RPG's focus on grinding heavy anymore and just becomes simplistic. It has been the same formula for the games but each new game always brought something new (the ones I have played). I use to have trouble finding where to go but it become clear if you actually take time talking to the town folks and knowing which direction to go from the town. That what I like about the series, the time you are spending is rewarding. The music to the series is just pure bliss and I enjoy the opening score because it sets the grand scale of the journey your about to take.  Just the overall experience is just awesome. Now the series is continuing with the tenth installment and I really can not wait to play it. I have to play the 9th one before hand though. I really hope this series keeps going strong and I hope this develop a bigger fan base. I enjoy spending hour into this series and I hope I encourage you to find a copy of one the series irritation. If you don't like it then theres plenty of other RPG's to indulge.  So keep questing and be back for more.

Missing the Arcade.

Awhile back I went out to go shopping for some stuff and went to a old mall that I have not been in for years to see how it has changed. To my surprise the arcade I use to play at was still there. I was completely surprised because there was not many arcades here in my state. I reminisce about the days I would try to beat a high score on a Pac-man machine. Now today a lot of arcades close down due to a lot of poor business. The place did not change much from the last time I was there, beside a lot of new machines.   I was truly happy to waste my time again on a good old Time Crisis machine. I exchanged some money for these awesome little Pac-man Namco coin. After a couple of hours playing I was tired and beat. I really wanted to play some Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (so pumped for 3!!) but they got rid of the machine a long time ago, pretty bummed only arcade fighting game cabinet they had was Tekken 4. I missed the SNK cabinets and Capcom fighting cabinets a lot.

The reason why I wanted to post this is to find someone who reminisced about the days of begging parents for money and blowing it all in a matter of hours on one arcade machine trying to surpass others in a high score. I know that arcades here in america are pretty much ghost towns but it is a nice treat to find some arcades that still have people chipping away money. I am not saying that consoles are bad at all I just saying gaming has changed a lot from the old days. My friends still get together and do games matches but it so hard to do when everyone is so far away and I can see the greatest of online gaming. Arcades are what made a lot of us enjoy gaming and connect with others and have fun. I feel like a 80 year old guy talking about some war that happened almost decades ago. I just know there are arcades still alive and still making people submit quarter after quarter  just to make it to the next stage. So I will leave you with that.

Brocolli!!! and Activision stupidity.

Another apology for being late with another post but been swept up in a lot of things. Mostly MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3!!!! Yeah got it in on opening day and it is awesome. Probably write a post about it soon or I may end up being lazy again. I been caught up in Law and Order SVU too, great show and I been watching a lot of crime thrillers and television shows about crime solving. Oh I forgot to mention I been talking to a guy I had my eye on. Super excited to see where that goes. So any ways I wanted to talk about something that really pisses me off and that is Activision, you know the game company who kept spamming the hell out of Guitar Hero games. Trust me it not about that game series. Its more on the Call Of Duty series.

Don't get me wrong I love Call of Duty but Activision really needs to stop charging 15 bucks for lack lusting content.  I have not bought the new map pack because it is a waste of money. I mean 4 maps and one Zombie map that people will probably never play. Does anyone remember World at War map packs? They were 800MS points and 10 bucks on Playstation Network. That is before the whole Modern Warfare 2 stuff with the whole lawsuit. I paid for both of those map packs and deeply regretted it....especially when the game developers did nothing to stop people hacking crap. Call of Duty 4 was thing that got me started with console online gaming and now Activision screws people over because they know they can. Well I am not being screwed over anymore. Oh and guess what another Call Of Duty game is coming out this year!!!! Sounds like the Guitar Hero franchise huh?

                                                          Thanks Activision ^.^

Yes I am ranting by the way because this is crap. I remember when games gave you value content that kept you playing for months or years. EA games never charged me 15 bucks for Mass Effect 2 add on that only had a new costume. Now Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam add on is a way different story then Call of Duty add on. They actually give you a new expansion campaign and multiplayer maps and new guns and vehicles. Now why can Treyarch do some new gun add ons with the map packs and bring some new perks into play? "Oh no there Walley we can't just tell Activision we want to put value in our content" and I not putting the blame on Treyarch because they work for Activision, Activision looks over  them and can value the add on however they want..... Another thing is why can't you just release the same day on the PS3, because we are in day and age of people still fighting over what console is superior and it does help when you play favoritism. It starts gamers arguing with one another and building fuel to the fire.

Okay time to calm down and finish this post with a positive output. I really wish the best for Call of Duty franchise but I am not playing any more incarnations. I want to play Modern Warfare 3 to finish the story but I may just borrow it from someone. I hope (not putting much hope into it) that Activision would stop screwing over consumers. Oh by the way almost done with the Fifth series of Doctor Who!!! So be on the look out for that. Oh and for the people hoping to hear about Brocolli, unfortunately I forgot it in my rage of ranting. So stay tuned for more content.

Quick Update

I just got done with the Tenth Doctor series and the specials. All I have to say is I really enjoy the series and I can not wait to watch the fifth series. By the way I know it been awhile since I did another blog post about Tron Legacy and I decided not to finish my review because I wasted to much time writing the first part and I felt like I was babbling. So I will do a shorter review when the actual movie comes to Blu-ray. I got some ideas for my next blog but I don't which topic to start on. So keep checking my blog to find out what is next up. Everyone has a nice day.

TRON Legacy my impressions Part 1

It took me some time to see this movie but I have finally seen it and boy was the wait worth it. Due note this is the first time I experience a 3D movie (beside the red and blue glasses type). My friends know how much of a TRON fan I am, and they were teasing that I did not see it before them.

TRON has always been a great movie to me and to hear two years ago that a sequel was being made had me pumped. Because I always wonder want the TRON universe would look like now that technology has been so advance since the 1982 film. There was the game TRON 2.O but never got to play it...(yeah some TRON fan I am). Seeing the comic con teaser that came out I knew the new movie was going to change a lot and usually that is bad thing. But after seeing how the project developed over the years and seeing a trailer that finally reveal what we would see I was totally ready to go. Now the 3D arrived I just stop seeing movies (but I will get more into in another post) and this movie was definitely going to be my first.

Now to the film. Spoiler alert by the way (in some ways), just to clarify. I just going to point out key point that really stuck out.  I may get some things wrong because it usually takes me a second time to get every thing in clear view. One scene I was geeking over was the board meeting with the Encom employer and seeing that Dillinger (in the first TRON) had a son (played by Cillian Murphy) and I was like having a big WTF moment. Not in a bad way and it show the little hints to the first film. By the way he was pretty hot looking. It was great to see Bruce Boxleitner playing Alan/Tron again. I really like the guy who they got to play Sam Flynn and can not remember his name at the moment (Garret Hedlund). Seeing the arcade again and on the big screen made me happy and a little hint with the Journey song "World's Apart" made me excited. Of course you are wondering why? Well Journey made a song to the first film.

When Sam gets into the world (The Grid) and seeing the new recognizer was really showing how the first film was really payed close attention to but making new steps at the same time. As he gets put into the suit I was really excited to see the games once again. The Identity disc this time around are pretty awesome looking and the suits looked really awesome in the movie. Hearing the voice when the disc is revealed and talking about the rules like Sark explained in the first film was really awesome. Seeing the first game arena was like almost remembering the "Discs of  TRON" game and seeing Sam trying to play was exciting. Then you finally see Clu before the big reveal and I wanted his trench coat by the way!!! Seeing Rinzler (spoiler coming up), as soon as I saw the  four squares towards his neck. I had known it had something to do with Tron and then to find out the whole flashback scene, it was clearly him.

Now I really was excited to see Clu once again but in a new light as the main villain. I really was hoping to see a new MCP (Master Control Program) and to see Clu return in a new light was definitely a nice twist. In the first one he (Clu) was just a program created to get Kevin's stolen files back and delete by the MCP. Then knowing he was brought to "The Grid" as program to help oversee the new world and the become more than Kevin wanted him to be. The technology for making Jeff Bridges look younger was really damn impressive. Seeing the light cycles was truly awesome. The new cycles were pretty awesome and seeing Kevin have one just like one from the first film was pretty awesome. Quorra was really awesome character. Then seeing Jeff as Kevin again was really awesome. Seeing that the way he talk in the first film was truly a treat too.

                                                           Then.....
                                                          Now

Seeing a cameo done by Daft Punk was really awesome and speaking of them the soundtrack they did was really caught the mood of the film. Castor was really a character to see, of course he was somewhat flamboyant in a sense. I really like his character and the fun Micheal Sheen must of had with him. The fight in the club scene and the fight in it was pretty cool. So ends part one, I will be sure to post the next part sometime next week.

Doctor Who, my new obsession

I been a fan for some time just caught it on the syfy channel  (the new name now...)when they use to show it, but it was not until Netflix I became I fan of it. I can not believe it has taken me this long to finally watch the series. I have not watched any of the classic series yet, I watching the ones with Chris Eccleston through David Tennant doctors and hoping to get to Matt Smith series next. But so far I am on the third season and I have to say I love the show. I am a huge Star Trek fan, Doctor Who is something to take a break from Trek. I hope people here in America star watching it more, this show is really awesome. My favorite episodes so far are the "Dalek", "The Empty Child", "School Reunion", "Rise of the Cybermen" and my very favorite is "Love and Monsters". Only the ones I can think of right now. But I really don't have a episode I yet to dislike. But I will post a more appropriate view on this show when I finish watching the episodes to catch up to the new season coming this year. So if you have a chance I recommend this show.

Sorry

It has been awhile since I made a new blog entry and for that I apologize. One of my resolution for the new year ahead is to keep updating my blog. I been trying to come up with different things to talk about, but I keep getting unfocused about it. I really want some feedback but I must keep trying to put my voice out there to ever find some.

If people are reading this then I am doing something right for once. So stick around and some new things will come.
